"I just don't want..." The words trail off. He's not sure what he wants, or how to phrase it. It's probably not important, anyway. What he wants doesn't matter. "...Sorry." He pauses, trying to think of what the right response would be in this situation, if he hadn't gotten stupidly distracted with his own feelings instead. In the end he offers, a bit hesitantly, "Thanks for coming."
