City Log & Upcoming Event!
Vi here, with a heads up that I'm putting up a log for characters to investigate the city of Valparaíso during their free time on the latter half of Saturday, and all of Sunday. Cadets will be expected (and required) to go into town in full uniform, and will find that people have varied reactions to their presence, primarily positive. Some of the largest complaints have to do with how ugly the Shatterdome is compared to the rest of the city, and even other parts of the harbor. Others will want details about what it's like in the Shatterdome, and others will be intent on trying to figure out where each Cadet is from.
Edit: The log is now up here!
Staff members will have the option to dress casually while in town, and as such, may fly more under the radar. Any Ranger will be recognized by a decent portion of people they encounter, depending on the care they do or don't take to make themselves less immediately recognizable. At this time, all Rangers will be requested to hold off on drinking alcohol, due to some abnormalities being detected in the activity of the Breach.
What this means is it's time to have fun on the town! The primary language in the area is Spanish, with those in the more tourist driven areas knowing English, and a smattering of other languages as well. Characters are free to find an interpreter, or stumble through using key phrases books. Language is a barrier to work around in town!
Cadets will not technically have money on this trip, but will likely find people are willing to purchase them sweets and drinks and native street food favorites for the sake of some information or time spent in their company.
All of this is further downtime before the first big event in game: on March 3rd, the Breach will be opening and a Cat IV Kaiju will be entering the Pacific Ocean. Movement tracking will take it close to South American waters, before it angles sharply down toward Cape Horn.
The Jaeger pilots currently stationed in Valparaíso will be deployed to engage the Kaiju before it slips away from the continental shelf and attempts to cross over into the Southern Ocean, projected to swim into the Southern Atlantic Ocean. This fight will take place on March 7th, with the live feeds from the PPDC jumphawk pilots and spotters along with the Jaegers themselves as the Valparaíso Shatterdome LOCCENT monitors the fight.
More information on what this means will go up on the 3rd! For now, what I'd like from everyone is some assistance in a very particular category... Kaiju naming! Comment below with suggestions for Kaiju names (or even physical appearance) over the next two days. Either the name with the most collective interest will be used, or I'll use a random number generator to pick a name for humanity's next mad brute from among those volunteered!
Please direct questions to the thread below labeled "Questions." Otherwise, feel free to use this post to plot among your fellow players!
